How it works

Import a CSV. Review the exceptions. Export a trial balance you’d sign.

Six stages, in order. Entrio does the typing. The reviewing stays yours.

Entrio doesn’t replace your accounting software. It replaces the hours before you open it.

01 · Import

Statements as the bank produced them

Load Excel or CSV for the period. Multi-account and multi-month ranges are normal. Duplicates and overlapping periods are flagged rather than quietly stacked into the ledger.

02 · Categorise

Rules code the repetition

Built-in, firm and client rules resolve in a fixed order. Every line shows which rule fired. New rules can sweep back over history already loaded. Firm rules in depth →

03 · Review

Exceptions, not every Pret

The inbox groups what still needs a human: unmatched payees, transfers, anything you want a second look at. Nothing is applied silently.

04 · Reconcile

Bank position before export

Gaps and discrepancies surface against statement balances. While a reconciliation is open, export is blocked — on purpose.

05 · Trial balance

Figures that foot both ways

Double-entry under the hood, P&L and balance sheet from the same ledger. Manual journals cover accruals, prepayments and the rest of a final adjusted TB.

06 · Export

Hand off — don’t pretend it’s filing

Export the review-ready pack for accounts production. Entrio never submits to HMRC or Companies House. Filing stays another tool’s job.

Where Entrio fits

Entrio is not accounting software.

It prepares the bookkeeping before it reaches Xero, FreeAgent, Sage or QuickBooks. Your accounting software stays where the finished year lives.

FAQ

How the workflow holds up under questions.

Do I need to rekey every line?

No. You import the statement as the bank produced it (Excel or CSV), rules categorise matching lines, and you review exceptions and anything without a rule. The product is the review — import is only how the data arrives.

What formats do you support?

Excel and CSV exports from major UK banks. PDF is deliberately out of scope: parsing PDFs is less reliable, and on a year of transactions that unreliability lands in the trial balance.

Can I export before the bank reconciles?

Not without overriding a deliberate block. If a reconciliation is still open, Entrio refuses the export. Showing the blocked state is part of the product — not a happy-path screenshot.

What do I hand to accounts production?

A reviewed trial balance (and supporting reports) you would put your name to. For cash-basis sole traders that pack is often enough for Self Assessment prep; for limited companies TaxCalc, IRIS, CCH and the rest still produce statutory accounts and file. Entrio never submits to HMRC or Companies House.

Can I finish cash-basis accounts prep in Entrio?

Yes. The same workflow — import, categorise, review exceptions, reconcile, report — produces a cash-basis profit and loss and trial balance for the tax year. Journals are there when a year needs adjustments; pure cash basis often needs none. Filing still happens outside Entrio.

Is this AI bookkeeping?

No. Categorisation is deterministic rules you can inspect. Same input, same output. Entrio is not AI — and that is the feature for anyone who has to defend a figure six months later.

Does Entrio replace Xero or FreeAgent?

Not for clients who use those systems every day. Entrio doesn’t replace your accounting software. It replaces the hours before you open it — and for cash-basis clients who will never log in, it can be the whole bookkeeping layer for the year.

Proof, not promises

Entrio is new. So here’s what we can actually show you.

No case studies yet — we’re taking our first firms now. What we can do is let you check the arithmetic, which is the only claim that matters here anyway.

Reconciliation checked against FreeAgent A real company’s year was prepared in Entrio, then compared line by line with the same year in FreeAgent. Once four accruals were posted, the figures agreed exactly. Read the methodology note →
147 built-in UK rules Plus an 87-account UK chart of accounts. You’re categorising real transactions before you’ve written a rule of your own — and you can override every one of them.
The trial balance on this page It isn’t a picture. It’s computed from the demo ledger on every page load, and a test fails the build if it stops footing. Add the columns up yourself.

We’d rather show you a reconciliation you can pick apart than a testimonial you can’t check.
