Self Assessment deadline · 31 January

The deadline is fixed. The data entry doesn’t have to be.

Every January the same clients send the same pile of statements. Entrio turns each one into a reviewed trial balance and cash-basis accounts, filed on your rules and reconciled, so the time before the deadline goes on review instead of typing.

Clearing the queue

It isn’t one client. It’s the tenth this month.

One Self Assessment client is an afternoon. Ten arriving in the same three weeks is the real job, and in a spreadsheet each one starts from a blank sheet.

Load every client into the same workflow

Drop in each client’s statements as the bank exported them. Entrio reads Barclays, Lloyds, NatWest, Monzo, Mettle and the rest, and works out the columns itself.

One rule set codes all of them

Your firm’s rules, plus 147 built-in UK ones, file each client as it comes in. Client two arrives mostly done by the rules you wrote for client one.

Review exceptions, not everything

You only see the transactions the rules couldn’t place. Reconcile, confirm the VAT and the trial balance is ready for the return.

The rules you write in early January are still doing the work for clients who send statements on the 28th.

FAQ

January questions.

How late is too late to start before 31 January?

It depends on the records and how many clients are waiting. Importing a year of statements and letting your rules file them takes minutes rather than an afternoon, which changes how many you can still clear. Start with the messiest client now, not the easiest.

Does Entrio file the Self Assessment return?

No. Entrio gets you to a reviewed trial balance and a cash-basis profit and loss for the tax year. You take those figures into your tax software and file from there. Entrio never submits anything to HMRC.

I have eight clients who all sent statements in January. Can I load them together?

Yes, that’s what it’s for. Each client has its own books, but they all share your firm’s rules, so the second client arrives mostly filed by the rules you wrote for the first. You review exceptions across the batch instead of coding eight years from scratch.

What if the client has nothing but a bank account?

That’s the easiest version. There’s no old ledger to reconcile against: bank statements in, reviewed trial balance and cash-basis accounts out.
